Commission: Another Needle Felted Bloo Gets Made

Run Red Run Needle Felted Bloo Fez

Maybe you remember my felted interpretation of Bloo, from Cartoon Network’s long running show Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends. I made him as a fun side project, and he sold. Well, I took a commission for a second version of Bloo! He’s very similar to his older brother with the added accessory of a stylish fez. I gave him a final touch-up today then shipped him off on the first leg of his voyage to his new home — in Australia! That’s right, I’ve gone global! That’s the power of the internet for you.

So, yeah, I take commissions. Need a gift that’s totally original? Want a felted sculpture of your favorite cartoon character? Have a unique idea that you’d like to see brought to life? Well, contact me and we’ll see what we can do about that!

Needle Felted Bloo and Reaper Go Home

Run Red Run Needle Felted Bloo Grim Reaper sold Good news, everyone…two more felted cuties found a new home. One is the Grim Reaper that I teamed up with illustrator Vince Dorse to make. The other feltie was a reproduction of Bloo from Cartoon Network’s Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends. I just made Bloo to blow off some steam, but someone saw him and decided they had to have him.  I hope he behaves in his new home.

In related news, Bloo turned out to be a hit!  I took a commission to make a second Bloo. He’s not an exact replica of his earlier brother, but no two felts are the same. I’ll put some pictures of the new Bloo once he’s complete…

HULK SMASH! Needle Felted Incredible Hulk

Run Red Run Needle Felted Incredible Hulk Here he is, my woolen version of the gamma irradiated beast known to most as the Incredible Hulk. I really like the Edward Norton film that came out a few years ago and with the Hulk’s role in the upcoming Avengers movie it seemed like a great time to team up with illustrator Vince Dorse to explore the character.  You can see the designs my needle felted Hulk was based on in his post at his blog.

He’s sculpted around an armature and, to add an extra punch, I constructed his arms in a way that allows them to smash the ground with unstoppable force! Ok, maybe not unstoppable, but it’s fun to pretend this guy is pummeling the heck out of the bad guys… or just giving Thor a workout.

Is He Man Or Monster…or is he felt!?

Run Red Run Needle Felt Incredible Hulk

You wouldn’t like him when he’s angry, but you might like him when he’s fuzzy.

In honor of the 50th Anniversary of the publication of Marvel Comics’ Incredible Hulk Issue #1, I’m posting a quick teaser of the latest felted doll I’ve been working on. I’m still taking photos of the “Jade Giant” and I’ll have a bunch to post in my gallery (and Flickr, and Facebook, and everywhere else) before the weekend. Just in time for the Avengers movie! So stop back.

Below I’ve posted the cover of Hulk #1, published 50 years ago today!
