A Christmas Gift

Merry Christmas!  This is a gift that I made for a friend for Christmas.  She is a big fan of the Peanuts gang, especially Linus.  It’s based on an illustration my friend Vince did which was, of course, based on Schulz’s Peanuts designs.

I also posted some work in progress photos below.  I thought it might be interesting for  people to see some of my process.  And if you’re interested in how Vince put the box illustration together, check out his blog post all about it.

I started by making heads. I made them one after another so that the size matched. This is Linus in the making.

Here's Linus' head with his body. The bodies were made at the same time too and are pretty much identical.

Here's Daryl's head and body. Looks pretty much the same, huh? Her body is getting dressed with shorts, shoes and the start of her shirt.

Here's Linus with his different parts almost complete, I just have to needle felt them all together. Getting that head attached to the body was the most difficult part of the project.

This is the art that Vince Dorse did for the top of the box. I really liked how it turned out and it really completes the gift. Head over to Vince's blog to get the low-down on how he put the illustration together.
