Ichabod Crane Gets Needle Felted

With Halloween in the air I thought it would be a good time to put up photos of my Ichabod Crane art doll.  Inspired by the story The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving and designed by illustrator Vince Dorse, Ichabod is one of my favorites… and a great companion piece for the Headless Horseman & Daredevil figures I made.  Along with the design sketch posted below, you can see Ichabod, running for his life from the clutches of  the Headless Horseman on Vince’s home page and in his gallery.

Three Needle Felted Monsters Sold In One Week!

Some of my little felt monsters have escaped! The Mummy, Vampire, and Frankenstein are all going to terrorize new homes!

As is always the case, while making these creatures I fell in love with them. It’s a little difficult to see them go, but I’m so excited to see them headed off to new adventures with new families. These guys made me smile, I hope they do the same for the new owners.

A big thank you goes out to the buyers… and a special thanks to SpookyTime Jingles for hosting the sale!

Needle Felted Frankenstein and Vampire For Sale

The 13th of October marks another SpookyTime Jingles update.  To celebrate Halloween, I have not one but two items for sale this month — Frankenstein’s Monster and a little vampire so cute he could charm the plasma right out of you.

I designed The Monster with a wire armature in his shoulders to help keep his arms up in strangling position.  He’s sad because he just wants a friend…or a wife…or an undamaged brain.

The little vampire has his own wooden coffin to snugly sleep in during the day.  I rarely make anything this small, but my friend Vince spotted the coffin while shopping for art supplies and then designed a vampire to fit into it. Curse him and his constant flow of ideas.  Check out his blog to see the design and all his other great illustrations.

Living Felt International Felting Contest 2011

The Living Felt International Felting Contest 2011 winners are announced!  This year had a lot of entries in both the doll and Dr. Seuss inspired categories.  They were excellent examples of needle felting.  Everyone did a great job and I really enjoyed looking over all the entries.  You can find the winners and all the entries on the Living Felt site http://www.livingfelt.com/feltingcontest2011-dolls.htm.   Congratulations to the winners!
