Needle Felted Edgar Allan Poe

Run Red Run Needle Felted Edgar Allan Poe

I think melancholy sums up my most recent project.  Edgar Allan Poe has always struck me as a sad figure–maybe that’s the price he had to pay for his genius.  There was the movie, The Raven, recently released, which uses the last mysterious days of his life as the setting for intrigue and…murder.  I think John Cusack had the look of Poe down pat.  Something about the eyes, again, sad.  I tried to capture that very same sadness in my feltie’s eyes.  And of course, the coffin also adds a bit of the macabre to the piece.

Poe was another team up with illustrator Vince Dorse.  To see the sketch that I worked from, head over to his blog and take a look.  And go to my gallery to see more photos.
